The History of History Editorial Desk
The History of History Editorial Desk is the site's editorial identity: the desk that chooses which viewpoints an article carries, gathers the sources that support each claim, drafts with AI assistance, and reads every draft before it is published. Articles interleave mainstream scholarship, alternative theories, myth and tradition in one narrative, and every claim is tied to a named source.
How we work
Every article is written to carry more than one lens. Mainstream scholarship, alternative theories, mythological accounts and collected tradition are named in the prose where they apply, sentence by sentence, rather than being set apart under their own headings. The desk decides which lenses an article carries by asking which of them has a source that can be cited for the claim at hand.
A claim that is not Mainstream needs two sources that meet the credibility floor for its lens before it carries that lens's label; until then it is published as Unverified and says so. Citations sit at the end of the sentence they support, with the author, year and page or passage, so a reader can check the claim without leaving the paragraph.
Drafts are produced with AI assistance from the gathered sources and are read by the desk before publication. The byline names the desk because the desk, not the drafting tool, is answerable for what is published. The full rules are on the Editorial Policy page.
