Biography
Ankhesenamun was an Egyptian queen of the 18th Dynasty, born as Ankhesenpaaten. She was the third of six known daughters of Pharaoh Akhenaten and Queen Nefertiti. Most famously, she became the Great Royal Wife of Tutankhamun, her half-brother. Her life was marked by dramatic political and religious changes, as she was born during the controversial Amarna period when her father Akhenaten instituted radical religious reforms. After Tutankhamun's unexpected death, historical records suggest she made an unprecedented diplomatic request to the Hittite king Suppiluliuma I, asking for one of his sons to marry her and become pharaoh of Egypt. This request ultimately failed when the Hittite prince was murdered on his journey to Egypt. She likely married Ay, who succeeded Tutankhamun, though her fate afterward remains unclear.
