Biography
Graham Hancock is a British writer and journalist known for his unconventional theories about ancient civilizations. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he spent his early years in India where his father worked as a surgeon. He began his career as a journalist, working for The Economist as East Africa correspondent. In the 1980s, he shifted his focus to writing books about alternative theories of history and archaeology. His breakthrough came with the 1995 publication of 'Fingerprints of the Gods,' which became an international bestseller. Hancock has consistently challenged mainstream archaeological and historical narratives, proposing that an advanced civilization existed during the last ice age and was largely destroyed by cataclysmic events around 12,800 years ago. While his work has been criticized by mainstream academics, he has maintained a significant following and continues to influence public discourse about ancient history. He has authored numerous books, produced documentaries, and given lectures worldwide, becoming one of the most prominent figures in alternative archaeology.
