Valley of the Queens

The Valley of the Queens (Ta Set Neferu, meaning 'the Place of Beauty') is a necropolis located on the west bank of the Nile River near Luxor, Egypt. The valley consists of numerous rock-cut tombs carved into limestone cliffs, primarily used for the burial of queens, princes, and high-ranking officials during the New Kingdom period (c. 1550-1070 BCE). The valley features steep walls and narrow gorges, spanning approximately 2.5 kilometers in length. The tombs are generally smaller and less ornate than those found in the nearby Valley of the Kings, but they contain significant artistic and architectural elements, including vibrant wall paintings and hieroglyphic inscriptions.
