About Mask of Tutankhamun

The Mask of Tutankhamun is one of the most iconic symbols of ancient Egyptian art and craftsmanship. It is a solid gold death mask that covered the head and shoulders of King Tutankhamun's mummy. The mask is an idealized portrait of the young pharaoh, featuring a striped headdress (nemes), the royal cobra (uraeus) and vulture symbols on the forehead, and a plaited false beard. The face is smooth and youthful, with high cheekbones, almond-shaped eyes, and a gentle expression that embodies the perfect Egyptian ruler.
